Born in Newfoundland, Matt has lived in a number of communities, including Toronto, Hamilton, Windsor, London, and Ottawa, before returning to Kingston where he has strong family ties.

Matt obtained a four year Honours History degree at the University of Western Ontario and then attended Law School at Queen's.  Following his call to the Bar, Matt practiced for several years in Kitchener-Waterloo before co-founding Hodgson, Sinnett in 2000.

A Navigation Officer in the Canadian Naval Reserve, Matt has served aboard ships in both the Canadian and Royal Navy and sailed to Alaska, France, England, and just about every port possible on each coast.  Needless to say, when he's not in the office or in court, in the summer you can usually find Matt on the water.

Matt practices Criminal Law and is currently the President of the Kingston Criminal Defence Lawyers Association.

David R. Sinnett, B.A., LLB
Dave was born in Nova Scotia and was lucky enough to reside in many parts of Canada when growing up, including Quebec, Manitoba, and British Columbia.

Dave attended Carleton University and obtained a B.A. in Psychology and Law, with a Concentration in Criminology.  This degree developed his interest in legal studies and led Dave directly to Queen's University Law School.

Upon graduation Dave worked  in both Welland and Kitchener-Waterloo before deciding Kingston was the place he wanted to be.  In fact, when Dave and Matt decided to open the firm in 2000, Kingston was their only choice.

Dave practices Criminal Law and is a past President of the Kingston Criminal Defence Lawyers Association.
